PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Vorsteed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robsao Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emelianenko is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Pantera - Walk. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Vorsteed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robsao Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vorsteed shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Vorsteed showed some decent athleticism there.
Emelianenko is trying to get back to full guard.

Emelianenko is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Vorsteed pulls his head out easily.

Well, if Vorsteed is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Emelianenko moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Emelianenko looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Vorsteed has picked Emelianenko up and slammed him! Emelianenko can't keep hold of the triangle and Vorsteed manages to pass to side control!

Vorsteed stands up and beckons Emelianenko to his feet.

and Vorsteed counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Vorsteed.

Emelianenko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Vorsteed slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Vorsteed stands and steps away. Emelianenko gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Vorsteed is tying to control. Emelianenko wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Vorsteed is breathing heavily.
Emelianenko is looking to improve his position.
Emelianenko slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Vorsteed tries to stand but Emelianenko is controlling from the bottom.
Emelianenko tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Vorsteed has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Emelianenko is proving hard to escape from.

Emelianenko tries to roll over but Vorsteed keeps him under control.

Emelianenko is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Vorsteed's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Vorsteed's back!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vorsteed tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vorsteed defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Emelianenko.

Emelianenko is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Vorsteed has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Vorsteed working to try and regain half guard.

Vorsteed is working hard here to advance position.

Emelianenko working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Vorsteed tries to hold on but Emelianenko pushes him away.

Emelianenko swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Vorsteed is now in Emelianenko's guard. A big mistake from Emelianenko there, giving up the dominant position!
Emelianenko keeping moving, preventing Vorsteed from controlling successfully.

Emelianenko has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Vorsteed should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Emelianenko has tightened it up now! Vorsteed should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
