The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Severn clobbers Assis with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Assis moves away from the strike by Severn.
Assis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Severn circles away.

Severn lunges at Assis with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Assis's hand.
Severn lands a body shot.
Severn takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Bas Severn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kimbo Assis.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Assis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Severn as he avoids it easily.

Severn closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Assis takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Severn creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Severn seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

BOOM! Severn connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Severn loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Assis scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Severn land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Severn stands and salutes the crowd.
