The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Douglas sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Suggs tries a head kick but it misses.
Suggs throws a head kick that misses.
Nice takedown defense from Suggs. No joy for Douglas on that attempt.
Suggs lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Douglas doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Suggs counters with a head kick. That will keep Douglas thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Suggs connects with a high kick.
Suggs tries a head kick but it misses.
Douglas shoots in looking for a takedown but Suggs manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Douglas's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Alexander Suggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Douglas.
Suggs throws a front kick that sends Douglas stumbling back into the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Suggs throws a sloppy head kick and Douglas moves out of range easily.
Suggs tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Suggs slaps away a takedown attempt from Douglas, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Douglas fails with the takedown.
Douglas tries for a takedown but Suggs circles away easily
and Suggs counters with a nice low kick that buckles Douglas's knee momentarily.
Douglas looks gassed!
Suggs pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Whack! Suggs lands a heavy head kick that drops Douglas. The ref tackles Suggs to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Douglas was done.
