The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bison tries to clinch up.

James closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bison did well to prevent James getting side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
James lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Bison has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. James is working away from the top position though.

Bison is staying active underneath James, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bison on the ground.

James got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bison has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, James has managed to get both his arms back between Bison's legs - danger averted.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James is looking to work some ground and pound but Bison has wrist control.

James is looking to take a break and control but Bison is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

It looks like Johnathan Bison has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
