PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nate Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kay Bronze Swagg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz's entrance music is Under The Bridge. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nate Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kay Bronze Swagg!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz fails with the takedown
and Swagg counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Diaz shoots in but no luck this time.
Swagg uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Diaz.
Diaz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Swagg is fending him off so far but Diaz persists. Nope, Swagg circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nate Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Swagg clinches with his opponent.

Diaz is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Swagg will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Diaz up against the cage.
Diaz has Swagg pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Swagg manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Diaz is breathing heavily.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Swagg has clasped his hands together around Diaz's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Swagg is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Swagg looks up at the clock and then as Diaz takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Swagg smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Swagg is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Diaz's shoulder. That is not cool.

Swagg decides to stand back up.

Swagg dives in and scores a takedown into Diaz's guard.
Swagg postures up in Diaz's guard and throws a big left but Diaz blocks it.

Swagg stands up from Diaz's guard - Swagg perhaps looking for a knockout.

Swagg connects with a body shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Swagg shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Diaz's guard.
Swagg tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard.
Swagg seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Swagg decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Swagg drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz parries the strikes from Swagg easily there. Swagg is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Diaz to escape.

Swagg is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Diaz's shoulder. That is not cool.
Diaz is trying to control Swagg's posture but Swagg avoids it.
Diaz tries to buck Swagg off but Swagg is having none of it.
Swagg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
A lull in the action here.
Diaz can't do much from the bottom here.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Kay Bronze Swagg hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
A looping hook to the body misses from Diaz. Swagg does a little dance to reset his feet.

Swagg forces Diaz back against the cage and clinches.
Diaz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Swagg is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Swagg gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Swagg stops a takedown attempt from Diaz.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Swagg is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Swagg has Diaz pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Swagg pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Diaz tumbling to the mat - Swagg dives into Diaz's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kay Bronze Swagg dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Swagg feints and as Diaz raises his hands in defense, Swagg changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Swagg chips away with some ground and pound.
Swagg forces his way into half guard.
Diaz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Swagg's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Swagg's back!
Swagg tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
You get the feeling that Swagg really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Diaz working for a submission but Swagg is keeping him at bay.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Swagg is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Diaz looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Diaz moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Swagg has worked his arm free - good work by Swagg!
Swagg tries to bench press Diaz off him but Diaz keeps the position.
Swagg is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Swagg is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Diaz's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Diaz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Swagg doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Diaz.

Swagg is controlling Diaz's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Diaz drops an elbow to the side of Swagg's head.
Swagg is trying to stand back up but Diaz is controlling him

Swagg seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Diaz is in close to Swagg's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Diaz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Swagg is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Swagg has escaped and now he's on top!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Kay Bronze Swagg will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Swagg decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Diaz wants to get back to full guard.
Swagg looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Diaz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Swagg slows the pace down in half guard.
Diaz is trying to maintain the position but Swagg is very close to passing his half guard.
Diaz wants to get back to full guard.
Diaz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Swagg wants to pass to mount but Diaz is defending the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

It looks like Swagg is going to stand back up.
Swagg slows the pace down in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Kay Bronze Swagg.

Nate Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Swagg feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Diaz has his foot on Swagg's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Swagg works his way back into a safe position though.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Swagg accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Diaz is looking for a triangle but Swagg pushes his legs off easily.

Nate Diaz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Swagg stays in close to Diaz's body and controls the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kay Bronze Swagg comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Swagg has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
