Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Lee Swagger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Williams!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams throws a nice looking combination but Swagger bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Williams lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Swagger tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Williams swivels and escapes.

Williams drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Swagger is controlling Williams's posture.
Williams won't allow Swagger to get back to his feet.

Williams decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Swagger, up you get!
Swagger shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Williams but Williams pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Williams has his takedown stuffed

and Swagger decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Williams's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Williams has a closed guard, preventing Swagger from standing up.

Williams scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Williams looks gassed!
Williams connects with a looping right hand.

Swagger throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Williams.
Williams swats away the attempt to clinch by Swagger.
Williams avoids the head kick by Swagger.
Nick Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Swagger slips a jab and a cross from Williams.
Williams comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Williams shoots and misses

and Swagger counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Swagger.

Swagger breaks the clinch.
Swagger shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Williams as he avoids it easily.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Williams.

enabling Williams to counter with a crisp jab.

Swagger fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Williams sprawls well initially but Swagger persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Swagger content to control rather than advance.
Williams is trying to maintain the position but Swagger is very close to passing his half guard.
Williams wants to get back to his feet.
Swagger works his way into side control.
Williams wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Williams sneaks out the side door and pushes Swagger away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Swagger fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Williams misses with a two punch combination.

Swagger closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Swagger lands in his opponent's guard.
Williams wants to get back to his feet but Swagger is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Swagger controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Williams wants to stand up but Swagger is controlling him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Swagger gets to his feet. Williams looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Lee Swagger dominated that round.
That's time! Swagger's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Swagger doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Williams counters with a series of strikes. Swagger will be more careful next time no doubt.

Swagger has managed to clinch.

Swagger has picked Williams up - he's going for a ride! Swagger dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Williams really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Swagger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Swagger is keen to just control but Williams is a slippery customer.
Swagger tries to pass the half guard into mount. Williams knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Swagger perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Williams makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Williams throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Swagger counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Williams's guard now.

Swagger throwing strikes from guard but Williams blocks nicely.
Swagger won't allow Williams to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Williams can do anything to dispel that myth.

and Williams counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Williams throws a right and a left that both miss.
Williams thows a leg kick but Swagger checks it

and Swagger counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Williams kicks Swagger off and gets back to his feet.
A nice combination there by Williams.
Williams pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Swagger fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Williams is out of range.
Williams avoids a kick to the body.
Bob Lee Swagger is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Swagger ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Williams moves away.

Williams closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Swagger to the mat! Swagger manages to get full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Williams wants to get up but he can't break Swagger's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Williams wants to stand and escape but instead Swagger has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Williams wriggles free and stands up.

Swagger slips a jab from Williams.
Williams shoots for a takedown but Swagger saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Some wild striking there from Williams.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Swagger.

and Swagger counters with a shoot takedown. Williams fights it but they end up in guard.
Bob Lee Swagger overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Swagger won't allow Williams to get back to his feet.

Williams keeping full guard, as Swagger tries to pass.
Williams wants to stand and escape but Swagger is having none of it.
Swagger trying to control but Williams is working from the bottom.
Williams is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Williams looks for a takedown but Swagger sprawls well.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Williams is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Williams breaks from the clinch.

Swagger gets the takedown into side control.
Swagger happy to just control the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Swagger decides to stand back up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Swagger throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Williams's head.

Swagger gets the takedown into side control.

Williams wants to get back to his feet but Swagger drags him back down.
Swagger lands a nice forearm strike.
Swagger working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Williams is trying to escape the position but Swagger is controlling the position.
Williams is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Swagger asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Swagger tries to score with some ground and pound. Williams controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Swagger decides to stand back up.

Swagger clinches up against the cage.
Williams is trying to break the clinch but Swagger has him pressed against the cage.

Swagger manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Swagger lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Williams!

Williams defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Swagger.

Swagger moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Williams has worked his arm free - good work by Williams!

Williams wants to get back to his feet but Swagger drags him back down.
Williams is not content to let Swagger control the position.
Swagger lands an elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Williams trying to remain calm as Swagger controls from the top position.
Williams dodges the ground and pound from Swagger.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams is pushing Swagger's head away, looking to escape. Swagger manages to hold on to the position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Williams drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Swagger scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.

Williams stands and steps away. Swagger gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Swagger counters with a single leg into guard. Williams didn't expect that.
Bob Lee Swagger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Williams.
Williams wants to stand up but Swagger is controlling him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bob Lee Swagger showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Swagger, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
