PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Agamemnon Coon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rainbow Trout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 1, fighting out of New York, Agamemnon Coon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rainbow Trout!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Kavanagh and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Trout rushes Coon and presses him up against the cage.
Trout gets underhooks to prevent Coon's takedown attempt.
Trout stalling.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Coon.
Trout tries to land a knee to the head but Coon blocks with his arms.

Trout escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Trout throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Coon thows a left - swing and a miss!
Coon checks a low kick from Trout.
Trout throws a hook to the side of Coon's head but Coon sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Coon drives through with a takedown into guard.
Coon throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Coon trying to control but Trout is working from the bottom.
Coon missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Coon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Trout not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Coon working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Trout's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Trout tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Trout trying to keep a closed guard but Coon is proving a slippery customer.
Coon is pushing down on Trout's leg trying to pass to half guard. Trout is fighting to maintain full guard but Coon has managed to sneak the leg through.
Coon landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Coon content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Trout on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Coon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Trout's head.
Coon working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Coon seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Coon wants to pass to mount but Trout is defending the position.
Coon lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Coon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Trout's head.

Coon thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Coon connects with a nice short shot to Trout's temple.

Coon not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Trout is trying to maintain the position but Coon is very close to passing his half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Trout can do anything to dispel that myth.

Coon looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Trout with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Trout is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Coon's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Trout really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Trout is refusing to be controlled, as Coon sits in half guard.

Trout is looking for a sweep. Coon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Coon drops an elbow to the side of Trout's head.
Coon thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Coon seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Trout won't allow Coon to pass to mount.
Coon frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Coon lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Agamemnon Coon dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Trout throws a nice outside leg kick.
Coon does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Coon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Trout can do to turn this around?
Trout steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Coon.
Trout looks to land a right hand but Coon moved out of range.
Trout misses with a body kick.
Coon throws a left and a right that both miss
and Trout counters with an outside leg kick.

Trout has Coon up against the cage in a clinch.
Coon avoiding damage as Trout throws knees to the body.
Coon prevents a body shot from Trout.
Trout is trying to push Coon away but Coon has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Trout is trying to break free.

Coon blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Coon blocks an elbow strike.
Trout is trying to break the clinch but Coon is controlling him.

Coon has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Trout regains guard immediately.

Trout controls Coon momentarily but Coon frees himself.
Coon is looking to work some ground and pound but Trout has wrist control.
Trout looking to hit a scissor sweep but Coon is one step ahead there.

Trout keeping moving, preventing Coon from controlling successfully.

Coon is really struggling to control Trout but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Trout is trying to control the position but Coon postures up.
Agamemnon Coon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Rainbow Trout.
Coon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Trout avoids it really well and circles away.
Trout wants to clinch.
Rainbow Trout is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Coon throws a front kick aimed at Trout's knee but Trout avoids it well.

Coon lands a really nice looking cross but Trout seems unphased.

Coon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Trout counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Coon is defended easily by Trout.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Agamemnon Coon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Trout lands with a thumping leg kick.
Coon staying out of range there.
Trout uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Coon.
Coon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Trout sprawls well. Trout wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Coon gets slowly back to his feet.

Coon fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Trout slips under a jab.
Trout tries to land a front kick but Coon steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Coon misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Trout misses with an uppercut.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Coon takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Coon is trying hard to land a takedown here. Trout sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Rainbow Trout will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Coon scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Oooh a big shot lands for Coon! Trout is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Agamemnon Coon!
After the fight, Agamemnon Coon was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
