PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Misual Lalpa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcos Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lalpa's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Seek n Destroy. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcos Knight!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Chris Edwards and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Knight gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lalpa to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Lalpa controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Knight wants to stand but Lalpa is controlling the position.
Lalpa trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Knight wants to stand up but Lalpa is controlling him.

Lalpa trying to control but Knight is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Misual Lalpa just wasn't active enough.

Lalpa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Lalpa decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Lalpa shoots for a takedown but Knight saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lalpa throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lalpa throws a left and a right that both miss
and Knight counters with a two punch combo.
Knight avoids a punch combination nicely.
Knight missing with a left hand there. Lalpa was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
No luck for Lalpa with that takedown attempt.
Knight leaves Lalpa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Misual Lalpa. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lalpa changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Knight looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Knight really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lalpa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ground and pound from Lalpa seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Lalpa tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Lalpa throws a wild body kick that Knight sees coming a mile off.

Lalpa fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Knight sprawls well initially but Lalpa persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Lalpa shoots in for a double leg but Knight sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Knight throws an overhand right that lands on Lalpa's shoulder, as Lalpa tries to avoid the shot.

and Lalpa counters with a shoot takedown. Knight fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Knight tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Lalpa avoids it.

Lalpa is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Knight to keep the fight standing.
Knight has had enough of the clinch but Lalpa keeps him there for the moment.

Lalpa has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Knight after a bit of a struggle.
Misual Lalpa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Knight has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Lalpa has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Knight uses from the top position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lalpa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Misual Lalpa decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
