Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mick Spanner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Lauzon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Spanner might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Seven Drunken Nights - The Dubliners. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spanner fails with a takedown attempt.

Lauzon throws a head kick that misses.
Lauzon connects with a high kick.
Lauzon throws a hook but Spanner blocks it.
Lauzon pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Lauzon fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lauzon tries to clinch but Spanner moves out of range.
Lauzon leaves Spanner with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Spanner takes a head kick and keeps coming.
A looping hook to the body misses from Spanner. Lauzon does a little dance to reset his feet.
Spanner shoots in but Lauzon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mick Spanner. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Spanner shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lauzon defends it nicely.
Lauzon moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Spanner closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lauzon circles away.

Lauzon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Spanner.

Lauzon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Spanner manages to get himself to full guard.
Lauzon wants to control from the top but Spanner keeps moving.

Spanner has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lauzon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Spanner has his foot on Lauzon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lauzon works his way back into a safe position though.
Lauzon postures up in Spanner's guard and throws a big left but Spanner blocks it.
Lauzon has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Spanner to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Lauzon is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Spanner pulls down on the head and he's put Lauzon to sleep! This one is all over!

Mick Spanner really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Meat and Two Veg logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
