PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Taw Paw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paw kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is What you gonna do.. James Lewis has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Taw Paw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paw feints and as Lewis raises his hands in defense, Paw changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lewis looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Paw throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lewis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Paw is looking to stand up but Lewis won't let him.

Lewis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Paw gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Paw has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lewis is proving hard to escape from.

Paw stands and steps away. Lewis gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Lewis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Paw can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Paw will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Paw drops back looking for a leg! Lewis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lewis manages to kick Paw off! Paw jumps back into Lewis's guard.

Paw drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Paw jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Paw wants to stand but Lewis has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Lewis has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Paw cracks Lewis with a solid left hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Paw drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lewis dives on top into guard.
Lewis passes into half guard.
Lewis is trying to control. Paw wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Paw is looking for a sweep. Lewis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lewis is looking to take a break and control but Paw is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

OK we're going to have a standup here. James Lewis hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Lewis closes the distance and clinches.

Paw gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lewis is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Paw scores with a couple of nice shots.
Lewis is looking for a sweep. Paw is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Paw is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Lewis manages to get to full guard.
Paw trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Lewis looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Paw would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Paw postures up.
Paw stopping the sweep attempt from Lewis.

Paw is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Paw is looking to stand up but Lewis won't let him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Paw drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lewis dives on top into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Taw Paw dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Lewis drives through with a takedown into guard.
Paw is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Paw has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Lewis defend it? Paw steps over the head and cranks it - Lewis is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Paw!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Taw Paw!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Taw Paw waved his t-shirt featuring Crippler's Corner's logo in front of the cameras.
