Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Dexi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mike Dexi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Fedor Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dexi with a poor takedown
and Emelianenko counters with a two punch combo.
Dexi throws a right and a left that Emelianenko avoids nicely.
Dexi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Emelianenko counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Dexi wants to sweep here but Emelianenko controlling him for the moment.
Emelianenko wants to stand but Dexi has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dexi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Emelianenko won't allow Dexi to sweep him here.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Fedor Emelianenko wasn't active enough on the ground.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Emelianenko is landing with some decent strikes but Dexi is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dexi is in a horrible position here. Emelianenko smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Emelianenko is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Dexi to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Dexi shrugs it off.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Emelianenko clinches up with Dexi and pushes him back against the cage.

Emelianenko breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Emelianenko bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Dexi is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Emelianenko is looking to take a break and control but Dexi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Dexi is defending against the submission attempts here by Emelianenko.

Emelianenko wants to stand up but Dexi is controlling the position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Emelianenko connects with a nice short shot to Dexi's temple.
Dexi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Emelianenko's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Emelianenko's back!
Emelianenko has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Dexi.

Dexi doesn't have the hooks in and Emelianenko manages to turn into his guard.
Dexi lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Emelianenko!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Emelianenko wants to control but Dexi is having none of it.

Dexi is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Emelianenko has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Emelianenko!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Emelianenko decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Dexi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Emelianenko's waist but Emelianenko gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dexi off to one side.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fedor Emelianenko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Dexi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Emelianenko decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dexi, up you get!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Dexi enables Emelianenko to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dexi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dexi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Emelianenko is looking to work some ground and pound but Dexi has wrist control.
Dexi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Emelianenko's guard.

Emelianenko pulls Dexi in close to prevent any damage.
Emelianenko manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dexi manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dexi wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Emelianenko is now in half guard.
Emelianenko has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dexi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Emelianenko is working away from the top position though.

Dexi works his way to full guard. Good work.
Dexi wants to control the position but Emelianenko says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Dexi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mike Dexi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fedor Emelianenko is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Dexi is looking for a sweep. Emelianenko is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well Emelianenko has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
