PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dick Diablo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and War Machine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Machine ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Machine is nestled in close to Diablo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Diablo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Machine is working away from the top position though.

OK we're going to have a standup here. War Machine hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Machine lands a nice shot that snaps Diablo's head back.

and Machine counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Diablo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Machine's guard.

That's time! Diablo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Machine feints and then cracks Diablo's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Diablo down.

Diablo closes the distance and clinches up with Machine, looking for a takedown. Diablo pushes Machine against the cage but Machine circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Machine stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diablo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Machine tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Diablo takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Diablo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Diablo is trying to control Machine's posture but Machine avoids it.

Machine tries to pass the half guard into mount. Diablo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Machine is breathing heavily.
Machine throws a strike but Diablo avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Machine controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Machine really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diablo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Diablo wants to sweep here but Machine controlling him for the moment.
Diablo wants to stand and escape but Machine is having none of it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Diablo takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Machine misses with a low kick.
Machine throws a right and a left that both miss.
Machine moves in looking to clinch but Diablo pushes him off.
Machine connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Machine does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Diablo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Machine did well to prevent Diablo getting side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Diablo works his foot free and advances to mount.
Diablo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

War Machine showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Diablo with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Machine to score with a decent uppercut.
