Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ginokai Kai Gi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Connor has chosen Disturbed - Warrior as his entrance music. The key to victory for Ginokai Kai Gi has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Kai Gi.
Kai Gi throws a sloppy head kick
and Connor cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Connor throws a half hearted mid kick.
Kai Gi fails with an attempt to clinch.

Connor gets a double leg takedown into Kai Gi's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Kai Gi has his foot on Connor's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Connor works his way back into a safe position though.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Connor is defended easily by Kai Gi.
Kai Gi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kai Gi looks to land a combination but Connor avoids it well.
Kai Gi throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Connor.
Kai Gi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ginokai Kai Gi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kai Gi stalks Connor and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Connor's face. Connor staggers backwards, shaken.

It looks like John Connor has been cut.

Connor closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kai Gi to the mat! Kai Gi manages to get full guard.
Connor postures up and lands a big shot to Kai Gi's brow.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Connor is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Kai Gi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kai Gi wants to sweep here but Connor controlling him for the moment.
Connor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kai Gi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kai Gi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Connor gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kai Gi looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Connor has picked Kai Gi up and slammed him! Kai Gi can't keep hold of the triangle and Connor manages to pass to side control!

Connor is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kai Gi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Connor manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kai Gi has Connor in his guard.

Connor is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kai Gi defends it well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kai Gi throws a head kick but Connor moves out of range.

Connor shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kai Gi's guard.

Kai Gi is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Connor frees his head nicely. Oh but Kai Gi has switched to an armbar! Connor is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
