Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Randjob Jiu Jitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Randjob Jiu Jitsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Demian Maia!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maia closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Maia in particular looking to stall.

Jiu Jitsu looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Maia perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Demian Maia hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Jiu Jitsu tries to clinch but Maia moves away

and Maia counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jiu Jitsu!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jiu Jitsu tries to lock up and control but Maia gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Maia tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Maia pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Maia get's back to his feet.
Jiu Jitsu throws a leg kick but Maia sees it coming and moves out of range.
Maia swats away the attempt to clinch by Jiu Jitsu.
Maia misses with a low kick.
Maia keeps the fight on the outside.

Maia throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jiu Jitsu was covering up waiting for the punch and Maia finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Maia wants to control from the top but Jiu Jitsu keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jiu Jitsu has his foot on Maia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maia works his way back into a safe position though.
Maia is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Demian Maia.

Maia decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Jiu Jitsu on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Maia is keen to just control but Jiu Jitsu is a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Maia is working for a kimura here but Jiu Jitsu manages to reverse the position and he's now in Maia's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jiu Jitsu drops back looking for a leg! Maia is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Maia manages to kick Jiu Jitsu off! Jiu Jitsu jumps back into Maia's guard.
Maia is trying to control the position but Jiu Jitsu postures up.
Maia is adopting a defensive guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Maia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jiu Jitsu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jiu Jitsu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Demian Maia dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Maia throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Maia throws a right and a left that Jiu Jitsu avoids nicely.
Demian Maia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jiu Jitsu moves to clinch but Maia breaks away
and Maia counters with a one-two to the body.
A decent looking cross lands there for Maia.
Maia is looking to land body kicks.
Jiu Jitsu tries to clinch but Maia moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.

so Maia counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Jiu Jitsu escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maia gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Maia must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Demian Maia has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jiu Jitsu keeping moving, preventing Maia from controlling successfully.
Maia might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jiu Jitsu kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Jiu Jitsu has his feet on Maia's thighs here. He's pushed Maia off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Maia screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Randjob Jiu Jitsu!
After the fight, Randjob Jiu Jitsu was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
