Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vinny Chase (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hongman Choi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vinny Chase!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hongman Choi!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chase looking to score a takedown here. Choi is defending well but Chase drives through and ends up in Choi's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chase is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Chase sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Chase seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Choi for as long as he can get away with.
Chase has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Chase drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Choi dives on top into guard.

Vinny Chase has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Choi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Choi throws a right and a left that both miss.
Chase misses with a wild combination.
Choi avoids a kick to the body.
Choi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Chase scores with a one two! Choi had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Chase.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Choi is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Chase takes a little break here. Choi wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Chase is thwarting Choi's attempts to control the position.

Choi is refusing to be controlled, as Chase sits in half guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Hongman Choi wasn't active enough on the ground.
Choi fails with the takedown.

Chase pushes Choi up against the cage in a clinch.
Choi is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Chase pulls guard effortlessly.
Choi connects with a couple of short punches.
Chase wants to sweep here but Choi controlling him for the moment.

Chase is working an open guard so Choi takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Choi pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Chase closes the distance and clinches.
Choi tries for a takedown. No joy.
Choi is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Chase pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Vinny Chase has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hongman Choi.
Choi is trying to drag Chase to the mat but Chase just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Chase blocks the elbow strike.
Choi stalling in the clinch but Chase improves position.
Choi with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Chase decides to pull guard.
Chase managing to control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chase is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Chase shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Chase showed some decent athleticism there.
Chase slips a nice elbow through Choi's hands, connecting with Choi's forehead.
Still in half guard, Chase seems content to control.
Choi is looking to control Chase's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Choi avoid being mounted?
Chase performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Chase is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Choi sees it coming and defends easily.

Chase decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Choi tries to clinch but Chase moves out of range.
Chase throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Chase tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Chase looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Chase is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Choi doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chase.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Choi kicks Chase off and gets back to his feet.
Chase throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Choi wants to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Choi thows a body kick. Chase tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Chase swats away the attempt to clinch by Choi.
Choi throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Choi shoots in but no luck this time.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Choi.
Choi lands a head kick!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Choi throws a series of punches but Chase moves out of range.

Choi shoots in for a takedown but Chase shows good takedown defense.
Vinny Chase has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hongman Choi.
Choi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Chase goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Chase feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Choi wants to stand but Chase is controlling the position.

Chase engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Choi is trying to control the position but Chase postures up.

Chase gets to his feet - Choi follows without any prompting.

Chase gets a clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Choi breaks from the clinch.

Chase closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Choi to the mat! Choi manages to get full guard.
Chase might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Chase trying to control the position from guard on top but Choi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Chase slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chase is stalling in the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Choi avoids a punch combination nicely.
Horrible takedown by Choi or perhaps it was just good defense by Chase which made him look bad.
Chase keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Choi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Chase sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Chase shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Choi manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Chase not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Choi is trying to keep Chase in close.

Chase wants to control from the top but Choi keeps moving.
Choi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Chase clinches with his opponent.

Chase's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Chase takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Chase throws a half hearted mid kick.

Chase fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Choi to the ground. Chase is now in Choi's guard.
Choi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Chase won't allow Choi to sweep him here.
Chase throws a big right hand that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Choi trying to control the position.
Chase's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Chase drops back looking for a leg! Choi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Choi manages to kick Chase off! Chase jumps back into Choi's guard.
Choi wants to sweep but no luck.
Chase slips nicely into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
