Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Jordan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Roper!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jordan enables Roper to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jordan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Roper trying to control the position from guard on top but Jordan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Roper stands up from Jordan's guard - Roper perhaps looking for a knockout.
Jordan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Roper feints and as Jordan raises his hands in defense, Roper changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jordan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jordan is breathing heavily.
Roper is stalling in the full guard.

Roper drops back looking for a leg! Jordan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jordan manages to kick Roper off! Roper jumps back into Jordan's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jordan doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Roper is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Roper passes easily into side control. Nice work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Roper decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jordan to his feet.
Roper shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jordan sprawls well. Jordan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Roper gets slowly back to his feet.
Roper comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Roper lands a big right hand that sends Jordan crashing to the mat! Roper stays standing though and waves Jordan back to his feet!


Jordan is rocked!


It looks like Joe Jordan has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jordan tries to keep at a distance but Roper has taken the fight into the clinch.
Oh Jordan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Roper looking for a takedown.
Jordan seems to have got his legs back now.

Roper gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Jordan regains guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jordan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Roper gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Jordan looks up at the clock. Bad move! Roper lands a right hand from hell, dropping Jordan. Roper pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Roper!
