PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tordek Mordengard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mordengard comes into the arena with PRIDE blaring out of the sound system. Alex Rivera acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tordek Mordengard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Rivera!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mordengard throws a head kick that misses.
Mordengard swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Mordengard throws a hook but Rivera blocks it.

Rivera drives through with a takedown into Mordengard's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Rivera stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mordengard swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mordengard can't keep his opponent in guard - Rivera advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Mordengard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Rivera is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mordengard defends it well.

Mordengard holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Rivera is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Mordengard tries to roll over but Rivera keeps him under control.

Rivera looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Rivera passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mordengard!

Rivera is working for a guillotine from mount but Mordengard frees his head quite easily.

Mordengard is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Rivera swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mordengard is now in Rivera's guard. A big mistake from Rivera there, giving up the dominant position!
Mordengard knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rivera on the ground.

Rivera escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mordengard gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mordengard stands up over Rivera, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Rivera has his feet on Mordengard's thighs here. He's pushed Mordengard off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Mordengard screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Alex Rivera!
