Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Waters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Davenir Viganon!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waters fails with a takedown attempt.
Waters changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Viganon tries to avoid it but Waters manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Viganon to the ground. Viganon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Waters misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Waters. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Waters dives in and grabs Viganon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Viganon pushes down on Waters's head and hops out.
Viganon stuffs the takedown attempt from Waters. Waters gets slowly back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Waters.
Good standup being displayed there by Viganon as he connects with a hook.

Waters takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Viganon connects with a solid leg kick.

Waters stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Waters wants it to stay on the feet.

Viganon has managed to clinch.
Waters tries to work over Viganon's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Viganon avoiding damage.
Viganon is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Waters is defending well.

Viganon successfully pulls guard.
Viganon is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Waters pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Viganon is keeping the position for now.
Viganon controls Waters momentarily but Waters frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Davenir Viganon was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Viganon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Waters tries to avoid it but Viganon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Waters to the ground. Waters escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Waters shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Viganon sprawls well. Viganon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Waters gets slowly back to his feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Waters.

Waters in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Viganon takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Waters tries to advance to mount but Viganon denies him.
Viganon tries to bench press Waters off him but Waters keeps the position.
Waters trying to control the action but Viganon is working from the bottom.
Waters landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

Waters tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Waters has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Waters in side control lands a decent elbow.
Waters has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Viganon can't do much from the bottom here.
Waters creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Viganon gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Waters quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Waters but it's paid off an Viganon is forced to tap! Nice work by Waters.
