PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Monty Schill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Dope - I'm Back kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Monty Schill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Brown!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schill digs a good hook to Brown's body.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Schill enables Brown to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Schill manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brown looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Brown looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Schill with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Brown is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Schill slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Brown manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Schill manages to get himself to full guard.
Brown throws an elbow that misses. Schill uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Brown's guard. Nice move by Schill!
Brown pulls Schill in close to prevent any damage.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Brown is on top in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Brown drops back, looking for a kneebar! Schill looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Schill looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Schill!

Schill sneaks out the side door and pushes Brown away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Brown shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Schill manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
