Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Vinnie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vinnie changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Diaz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The ground and pound from Vinnie seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Vinnie takes a little break here. Diaz wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Vinnie is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Vinnie tries to stand but Diaz is controlling his head. Vinnie trying to control the position but Diaz is working away. Diaz throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land. Vinnie trying to control the position but Diaz is working away. Diaz is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
 It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Vinnie fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Diaz drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Diaz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Diaz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Diaz tries to advance to mount but can't. Vinnie tries to improve position but can't. Diaz looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Vinnie is avoiding damage well.
Vinnie is not content to let Diaz control the position. Vinnie tries to buck Diaz off but Diaz is having none of it.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Vinnie manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Diaz prevents Vinnie from improving his position. Diaz takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Vinnie is refusing to be controlled, as Diaz sits in half guard.
Vinnie looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Diaz is pressing down on Vinnie's thigh, looking to free his foot. Vinnie is holding on for now. Vinnie tries to roll over but Diaz keeps him under control. Diaz lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

 The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Vinnie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Diaz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Vinnie looks gassed! Diaz stands up over Vinnie, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Diaz won't allow Vinnie to sweep him here. Diaz landing some decent shots from guard. Vinnie has his hands on Diaz's head, controlling the position. Diaz content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Vinnie tries to land a sweep but no joy. Diaz lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vinnie works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Diaz with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Diaz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Diaz throws a big right hand that misses. Diaz wants to pass the guard but Vinnie is keeping the position. Vinnie throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

 Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Vinnie shoots and misses
and Diaz counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Vinnie! Nick Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Vinnie. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Diaz jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Vinnie manages to avoid the submission attempt. Vinnie is positioning himself to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nick Diaz dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Vinnie is rocked!

It looks like Tony Vinnie has been cut. Vinnie is not content to let Diaz control the position. Vinnie is still on wobbly legs! Can Diaz finish him? Vinnie seems to have recovered his senses. Diaz scoring with punches from side control. Diaz goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Vinnie rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Diaz's guard! Nice work there by Vinnie!

Diaz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vinnie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vinnie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Vinnie trying to control the position from guard on top but Diaz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Diaz looking to control.

Vinnie stands and throws Diaz's legs to the side, diving into side control.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Vinnie wants to stand but Diaz has his arm trapped. Vinnie landing a few strikes. Vinnie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diaz keeps working. Diaz tries to buck Vinnie off but Vinnie is having none of it.
Vinnie stands up. Vinnie tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vinnie won't be happy with that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diaz tries to move into full mount but can't pass Vinnie's legs. Vinnie is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Diaz off and has taken his back! Vinnie has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Diaz's body.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz turns into Vinnie and is now in his guard.
Diaz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Vinnie is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Vinnie has escaped and now he's on top! Diaz looking for a sweep. Not yet Diaz, not yet.

Diaz is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Nick Diaz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Diaz is trying to control the position but Vinnie postures up. Vinnie wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving.

and Diaz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Diaz controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Diaz lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Diaz wants to pass the guard but Vinnie is keeping the position. Diaz stands up over Vinnie, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Diaz postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Vinnie is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Diaz with a nice head shot there. Diaz connects with a couple of short punches. Vinnie takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Vinnie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Diaz's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Vinnie keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully. Diaz throwing strikes but missing. Diaz works over Vinnie with some ground and pound from guard. Diaz looking to pass the guard. Diaz throwing strikes from guard but Vinnie blocks nicely. Diaz is looking to advance position but Vinnie has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Diaz is squirming around, avoiding Vinnie's attempts to control the action. Diaz regains half guard.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz works his way to full guard. Good work. Diaz wants to sweep here but Vinnie controlling him for the moment. Diaz keeping moving, preventing Vinnie from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Diaz wants the takedown. Vinnie is fighting it off but Diaz persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Vinnie's guard against the cage. Diaz showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Diaz throws a big right hand that misses. Vinnie looking to control.
