PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gambit Wolverine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gambit Wolverine told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wolverine lands a two punch combo.
Maia misses with a takedown attempt - Wolverine sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wolverine throws a series of punches but Maia moves out of range.

Maia throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wolverine was covering up waiting for the punch and Maia finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Maia throws a strike but Wolverine rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

That was a close round but I would say that Demian Maia will probably get the nod.

Maia shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wolverine sprawls well. Wolverine wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Maia gets slowly back to his feet.
Wolverine stuns Maia with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Maia changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wolverine tries to avoid it but Maia manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wolverine to the ground. Wolverine escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Wolverine sends Maia crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Wolverine is motioning to the referee to let Maia up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Wolverine comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Wolverine scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Maia doesn't seem bothered though.

Oh Maia is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Wolverine cracks Maia with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Maia looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Wolverine finish him?
Wolverine walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Maia drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Wolverine swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Maia's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gambit Wolverine!
