Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Put Down (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Down shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Maia manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Down throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Maia looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Maia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Down doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Down manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Down has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Maia off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Down dives in and grabs Maia's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maia pushes down on Down's head and hops out.

Maia fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Down sprawls well initially but Maia persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Down pushes Maia off but Maia dives into side control.
Maia is looking to take a break and control but Down is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Maia thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Down throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Down is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Maia wants to get back to his feet.

Maia has one foot on Down's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Down changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Maia tries to avoid it but Down manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Maia to the ground. Maia escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Demian Maia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Put Down.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Maia tries to hold on but Down pushes him away.
Down postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Maia looks a forlorn figure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Put Down dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Down is trying hard to land a takedown here. Maia sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Maia shoots in looking for a takedown. Down tries to sprawl out of it but Maia keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Down manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Maia enables Down to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Maia manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Down tries to get to his feet, scrambling wildly. Maia sees the opportunity and transitions to an armbar that forces Down to tap. Impressive finish!
