PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cosa Nostra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Taylor comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Anxiety-Papa Roach kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nostra throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Taylor gets a double leg takedown into Nostra's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Taylor throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Taylor keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Nostra's head.

Taylor decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Nostra fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nostra throws a series of punches but Taylor avoids them all with ease.

Taylor fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Nostra to the ground. Taylor is now in Nostra's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Taylor throws an elbow that misses. Nostra uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Taylor's guard. Nice move by Nostra!

Nostra drops back, looking for a kneebar! Taylor looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Taylor looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Taylor!

Taylor in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Nostra wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Nostra is breathing heavily.
Taylor lands an elbow.
Taylor working the ground and pound.
Nostra takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Nostra is rocked!
Taylor taking a break here but Nostra is having none of it and regains half guard.

Nostra really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Taylor throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Taylor throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Taylor thows a huge punch but Nostra dodges it nicely.
Taylor lands strikes from half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Taylor is looking to advance position but Nostra won't allow it.
Nostra avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Taylor.
Taylor thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nostra's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Taylor missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Nostra keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Taylor lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Taylor tries to pass to full mount but Nostra defends it.
Taylor landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Taylor wants to take a breather but Nostra is having none of it.
Taylor lands with a punch from half guard.
Taylor seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Taylor thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nostra's head.
Taylor takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nostra taking some punishment here, with Taylor in his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Taylor looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nostra with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Nostra has hold of Taylor's hands but Taylor slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Taylor dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Taylor is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Nostra is in big trouble! Taylor is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Nostra. Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). David Taylor!
