PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Blaque Kreed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iqbal Al Mamood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Al Mamood has chosen Mamute Pequenino as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Blaque Kreed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Iqbal Al Mamood!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Bruno Hogan and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Al Mamood misses its intended target.
Kreed is looking to clinch but Al Mamood is avoiding it.
Iqbal Al Mamood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kreed will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kreed tries for a takedown but Al Mamood circles away easily

and Al Mamood counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Al Mamood.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Kreed has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Al Mamood can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Al Mamood works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Kreed tries to roll over but Al Mamood keeps him under control.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Al Mamood prevents Kreed from improving his position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Iqbal Al Mamood was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Kreed has his takedown stuffed

and Al Mamood counters with a takedown into side control.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blaque Kreed. That's going to take a lot out of him.
You can see the frustration on Kreed's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kreed is trying to work for a sweep but Al Mamood has mounted him!

Al Mamood lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Kreed hang on?
Kreed wants to control but Al Mamood is having none of it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kreed tries to lock up and control but Al Mamood gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kreed trying desperately to get to his feet.

Al Mamood is landing with some decent strikes but Kreed is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kreed is in all sorts of trouble here.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Al Mamood loads up on a big right hand but Kreed slips the punch.
Al Mamood thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kreed shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Al Mamood as he avoids it easily.
Blaque Kreed is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Al Mamood feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Al Mamood passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Kreed is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kreed pushes Al Mamood away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Al Mamood gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Kreed can't do much from the bottom here.

Kreed is looking to get back to his feet here but Al Mamood is keeping cool and he's managed to take Kreed's back.
Al Mamood is trying to stick to Kreed's back but Kreed is turning into Al Mamood. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Al Mamood's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kreed.
Al Mamood pulls Kreed in close to prevent any damage.
Kreed throws an elbow that misses. Al Mamood uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kreed's guard. Nice move by Al Mamood!

Kreed is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Al Mamood defends well.
Kreed wants to sweep but no luck.
Kreed being controlled here, momentarily.

Kreed working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Al Mamood has passed into half guard!

Al Mamood perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kreed looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Al Mamood pushes past his half guard into mount!
Kreed is working to get back to half guard.
Kreed tries to hold on but Al Mamood postures up.

Al Mamood takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kreed can't escape the position.
Kreed wants to control but Al Mamood is having none of it.
Al Mamood in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Iqbal Al Mamood showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Kreed displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Al Mamood throws out the jab.
No luck for Kreed with that takedown attempt.

Al Mamood lands a nice shot that snaps Kreed's head back.
Al Mamood is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Kreed uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Al Mamood.
Kreed moves out of range of the strikes.
Al Mamood misses with the combination.

Al Mamood gets a takedown into half guard.
Kreed makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kreed.
Kreed really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kreed looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Al Mamood has picked Kreed up and slammed him! Kreed can't keep hold of the triangle and Al Mamood manages to pass to side control!
Al Mamood just content to control the position.
Kreed is looking to regain half guard here but Al Mamood keeps moving and retains side control.
Kreed is looking to get back to his feet here but Al Mamood is keeping cool and he's managed to take Kreed's back.
Al Mamood is hanging on to Kreed's back as he tries to escape.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Al Mamood controlling the positon.
Kreed tries to escape but Al Mamood has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
I would not like to be Kreed right now.

I really don't envy Kreed right now.
Al Mamood is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Kreed tries to roll but Al Mamood sticks to his back.
Al Mamood slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Blaque Kreed has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
I really don't envy Kreed right now.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kreed trying to control the action but Al Mamood just sinks the hooks in.
Iqbal Al Mamood is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Al Mamood has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kreed's body.

Iqbal Al Mamood comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Al Mamood has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
