PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Arlan Maylan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauro Breda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Arlan Maylan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mauro Breda!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maylan throws a series of punches but Breda moves out of range.
Breda loads up on a big right hand but Maylan slips the punch.
Breda fails with an attempt to clinch.
Breda just misses with a punch to the body.
Breda shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Maylan defends it nicely.

Breda clinches up with Maylan and pushes him back against the cage.
Breda has Maylan pressed against the cage, preventing Maylan from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Breda is trying to maintain a safe position but Maylan gets an underhook and turns Breda into the cage.

Maylan gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Breda not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Maylan wants to stand and escape but instead Breda has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Maylan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Breda on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maylan kicks Breda off and gets back to his feet.

Maylan gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Breda pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Maylan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Maylan showed some decent athleticism there.

Maylan is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Breda still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Breda has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Breda is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Maylan can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Breda fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Maylan sprawls well initially but Breda persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Maylan is staying active underneath Breda, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Breda uses his free foot to push down on Maylan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Maylan.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
