Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leighton Matias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Suraski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matias comes to the cage accompanied by Killing In The Name. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leighton Matias! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave Suraski! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, John Roberts and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Matias. No joy for Suraski on that attempt. Suraski throws a right hand that Matias ducks under and follows up with a left that Matias also avoids with ease. Matias moves into range and clinches up with Suraski. Suraski has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Matias after a bit of a struggle. Matias is pressed up against the cage. Suraski has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Matias down to the mat. Matias avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Leighton Matias has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Suraski. Nice takedown defense from Matias. No joy for Suraski on that attempt. Suraski throws out a loose jab but Matias uses good head movement to avoid it. Matias misses with a head kick.
Matias rushes Suraski and presses him up against the cage. Matias stalling in the clinch.
Matias lands an elbow inside that Suraski shrugs off.
It looks like Dave Suraski has been cut. Suraski is working for takedown but Matias is calmly controlling the position for now. Suraski tries for a takedown but Matias manages to get underhooks.
Suraski has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Matias after a bit of a struggle. Suraski goes for a takedown in the clinch but Matias prevents it.
Suraski is looking for a takedown. A short right hand to the side of the head by Matias. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nice elbow from Matias. Matias is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Matias. Matias gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Suraski.
Suraski has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Matias regains guard immediately. Matias has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Matias utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Matias is on top in guard.
Matias postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. This has been an exciting period of action! Suraski is trying to control the position but Matias postures up. Matias has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Suraski tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Suraski working for a triangle but Matias defends it easily.

Matias stands up over Suraski, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Matias decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Suraski fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Matias fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Suraski, pushing him back against the cage. Suraski is working for takedown but Matias is calmly controlling the position for now. Matias lands a damaging elbow. Matias creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Suraski's defenses. Nice elbow from Matias. Matias stops a takedown attempt from Suraski.

Dave Suraski's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters. Matias lands an uppercut. Matias gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Matias comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Dave Suraski's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
