Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Maldini!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sir Jecht!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jecht shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Maldini's guard.
Jecht working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Maldini's head.
Jecht postures up in Maldini's guard and throws a big left but Maldini blocks it.
Jecht postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maldini is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jecht is aware though and is defending well.
Jecht tries to free his leg and advance position but Maldini is retaining full guard.
Maldini is trying to keep Jecht in close.
Jecht lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Jecht scoring with some ground and pound.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jecht is working Maldini over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maldini had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jecht defends it easily.

Jecht avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Maldini trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jecht is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Jecht scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Jecht is working Maldini over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Jecht got a little sloppy there for a moment and Maldini has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jecht has managed to get both his arms back between Maldini's legs - danger averted.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maldini is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jecht's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Jecht winds up and cracks Maldini with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Maldini on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Jecht landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.


Maldini is rocked!
Jecht lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Maldini quite badly. Maldini pulls Jecht in close trying to recover. Jecht postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Maldini on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Maldini doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sir Jecht! Sir Jecht retains his welterweight title!
An out of breath Sir Jecht thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
