Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anthony Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adrian Baker! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Jackson. Jackson scores a takedown into full mount! Baker really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Baker is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Baker on the ground. Jackson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Baker is looking to improve his position but Jackson isn't that keen on the idea. Baker wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Jackson.
Jackson throws some wild stikes that Baker manages to avoid easily.
Baker tries to hold on but Jackson postures up. Baker sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Baker moves into full guard.
Baker looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Jackson passes into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Baker is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Baker is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jackson pulls his head out easily. Baker is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jackson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jackson's back! Jackson is keeping busy.
Baker looking for the choke from the back. Jackson looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Jackson tries to escape but Baker has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Baker just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson trying to control but not successfully. This has been an exciting period of action! Jackson is taking damage to the body and head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Oooh a big shot gets through from Baker. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Baker is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Jackson with him. Jackson is trying to defend but Baker has an arm under the chin now! Jackson grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Adrian Baker!
