Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Morse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Rooney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rooney has chosen Belfast Boy as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rooney changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Rooney wants to clinch up but Morse keeps it at a distance.
Morse misses with a combination
enabling Rooney to counter with a crisp jab.
Rooney dodges the punch combination from Morse.

Rooney moves into the clinch.
A right hook to the body lands for Rooney.
Morse tries a knee to the head but Rooney blocks it.
Morse letting Rooney take a breather here.
Morse has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Morse using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Rooney has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Morse breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Rooney fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Morse, pushing him back against the ropes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Morse tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rooney swivels and escapes.
Morse looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rooney is fending him off so far but Morse persists. Nope, Rooney circles away and we're back to standing.

Rooney tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Morse paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Morse tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rooney swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Morse. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rooney tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Morse lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rooney circles away quickly and effectively.

Rooney shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Morse's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Morse can't keep his opponent in guard - Rooney advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
