PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jun Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sudaf Mendal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jun Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sudaf Mendal!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

I really don't envy Mendal right now.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Mendal is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
I really don't envy Mendal right now.
Kimura just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Mendal is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kimura gets his way!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kimura has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Mendal has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kimura is working away from the top position though.

Kimura shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mendal's guard.
Kimura slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Kimura drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mendal manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kimura has Mendal in his guard.
Sudaf Mendal has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Mendal must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well Kimura has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
