PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ken Shamrock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Kilbane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shamrock comes to the cage accompanied by The World most Dangerous Man. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ken Shamrock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Kilbane!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shamrock rushes Kilbane and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Shamrock tries to pull guard but Kilbane won't allow it.
Kilbane jumps guard but Shamrock turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Kilbane gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Shamrock is trying to stand up here but Kilbane is controlling him well.

Kilbane is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Kilbane takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Kilbane looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shamrock with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Kilbane feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Shamrock is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Paul Kilbane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kilbane closes the distance and pushes Shamrock back into the cage.
Kilbane tries to pull guard but Shamrock forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Shamrock gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kilbane.
Kilbane tries to land knees in the clinch but Shamrock avoids the damage to the body.

Ken Shamrock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Kilbane.

Kilbane has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

and Shamrock counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kilbane won't be happy with that.

Shamrock wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kilbane, who protects the arm well.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kilbane decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kilbane prevents Shamrock from improving his position.
Kilbane content to control rather than advance.
Kilbane tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Shamrock.
Well, if Kilbane is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Shamrock is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Paul Kilbane hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Shamrock misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kilbane throws a head kick but Shamrock moves out of range.

Kilbane has taken the fight to the clinch.
Shamrock dodges an elbow strike from Kilbane.
Kilbane tries a body shot but Shamrock blocks it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shamrock is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kilbane sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A combination from Shamrock does no damage.
Shamrock shoots in looking for a takedown but Kilbane manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shamrock's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ken Shamrock has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Paul Kilbane is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Shamrock is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

I would just about give that final round to Paul Kilbane.
Well Kilbane has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
