Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lyoto Machida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takayuki Okubo!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Okubo stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Machida follows into mount!
Okubo is rocked!
It looks like Takayuki Okubo has been cut.
Okubo is desperately trying to improve his position but Machida has a good base and remains in mount.
Okubo is still in real trouble! Can Machida finish him?
Okubo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Okubo seems to have recovered his senses.
Machida wants to control the pace but Okubo is squirming around nicely.
Okubo is trying to escape the mount.
Okubo swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Machida trying to control but Okubo is having none of it.
Okubo tries to reverse the position but Machida maintains control.
Okubo flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Okubo is looking to improve his position but Machida isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Okubo swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Machida looking to control but Okubo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Okubo gets back to half guard.
Okubo is looking to improve his position.
Machida wants to stand but Okubo has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Okubo is pressing down on Machida's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Okubo throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Okubo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Machida tries to lock up and control but Okubo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Machida knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Okubo on the ground.
Okubo thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Machida's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Okubo quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Okubo but it's paid off an Machida is forced to tap! Nice work by Okubo.
