PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Kendall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sonic Boom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kendall might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Kool Moe Dee - I Go To Work. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurt Kendall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sonic Boom!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Franklyn Lucas and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom misses with a body shot
and Kendall counters with a straight right hand.
Boom throws a leg kick but Kendall sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Boom throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Boom throws a leg kick which misses Kendall's front leg but catches the back leg as Kendall tries to avoid it.
Boom misses with a jab to the body
enabling Kendall to counter with a crisp jab.
Kendall cracks Boom with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Boom misses with a body shot
and Kendall counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Boom misses with a jab to the body
and Kendall counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kendall uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Boom.
Kendall misses with a straight left.
Boom staying out of range there.
A slow jab from Boom misses its intended target.

Kendall throws a right hand that Boom ducks under and follows up with a left that Boom also avoids with ease.
Boom throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Boom throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Boom slips under a jab.
Kendall throws a hook but Boom blocks it.
Boom tries to land a leg kick but Kendall saw it coming and moves away.
The fighters circle momentarily. Boom darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Kendall has a takedown stuffed.

Boom fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kendall.
Kendall looks to land a left hand but Boom moved out of range nicely.

Kendall darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Boom keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Boom trying to control from the bottom.
Kendall is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Boom!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kendall tries to control but Boom wriggling away.
Boom tries to hold on but Kendall pushes him away.

We're going to have a standup here because Kurt Kendall wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Boom fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kurt Kendall will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Boom tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Kendall is able to avoid easily.
Boom with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Kendall is looking to land body kicks.
Some wild striking there from Boom.
Boom pivots, looking for a leg kick but Kendall is out of range and Boom settles back down.
Kendall will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kendall walks into a left hand.
Boom throws a chopping leg kick but Kendall manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Boom throws a body punch but Kendall moves out of range.

Boom is looking to score with low kicks.
Boom bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Boom slips a straight right by Kendall.
Boom shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
The fighters circling - Boom throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kendall scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Kendall is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Boom ducks under a wild hook from Kendall.

Kendall shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Boom tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Kendall is able to avoid easily.
Boom pulls out of a head kick attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kendall throws a jab but it's blocked by Boom.
Boom throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Kendall.
Boom throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Kendall counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Boom missing with a left hand there. Kendall was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Sonic Boom seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kendall doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Boom lands with a straight right. Kendall didn't see that one coming.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Boom throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kendall.

Sonic Boom showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Boom digs a good body shot into Kendall's ribs.
Boom is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Kendall rather than just go for the knockout.
Boom clobbers Kendall with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Boom swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Kendall is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Kendall takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Boom checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Boom tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Kendall is able to avoid easily.
Kendall throws a leg kick but Boom sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Boom will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Boom connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Boom looks for the body kick but Kendall saw that one coming.
Boom throws an off balance right hand
and Boom takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Boom cracks the inside of Kendall's front leg.

Kendall fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Boom on the side of the head.
A jab from Boom finds it's way through Kendall's defenses.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Boom tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kendall was well out of range. Poor timing from Boom.
Boom throws a leg kick but Kendall sees it coming and moves out of range.

Kendall takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Boom swings for the body but Kendall moves out of range.
Kendall uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Boom.

Boom ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kendall moves away.
Boom throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Boom throws a hook but Kendall blocks it.
Kendall throws the left hand but Boom avoids the punch easily.

Kendall on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boom throws a body kick that misses.
A decent looking cross lands there for Kendall.
Boom throws a solid leg kick but Kendall takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Boom.
Boom throws a push kick but Kendall slaps the foot to one side.
Boom swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Boom staying out of range there.
Boom moves out of range of the strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sonic Boom comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Boom has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
