The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kowalski shoots in for a double leg but Henderson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Henderson tries to keep at a distance but Kowalski has taken the fight into the clinch.
Henderson jumps guard but Kowalski turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Henderson breaks the clinch.
Henderson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Henderson has a takedown stuffed.
Jan Kowalski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shawn Henderson.
Kowalski misses with a hook. Henderson ducked under it nicely.
Henderson walks into a straight right hand from Kowalski.
Henderson shoots for a double leg takedown but Kowalski sprawls well. He's pushed Henderson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kowalski wants to clinch up but Henderson keeps it at a distance.
Kowalski swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Henderson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kowalski won't be happy with that.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kowalski tries to buck Henderson off but Henderson is having none of it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Kowalski is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Henderson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kowalski is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Kowalski is trying to buck Henderson off.
Henderson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kowalski has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kowalski tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kowalski is breathing heavily.
Henderson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kowalski, who protects the arm well.
Henderson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Kowalski looks calm but he's in trouble here. Henderson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Kowalski is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Henderson lets go of the hold and Kowalski can pop his arm back in it's socket.
