Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bogan Riley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Penja Sukaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bogan Riley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Penja Sukaka!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sukaka avoids a punch combination nicely.

Sukaka bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Riley dodges the ground and pound from Sukaka.
Sukaka fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Sukaka is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Riley knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Sukaka wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Riley, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sukaka is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Riley is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Sukaka is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Riley has escaped the position, nice work there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Sukaka wants to lay and pray for a moment but Riley keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Riley scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Riley rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sukaka moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Riley misses with a two punch combination.
Riley fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A combination from Sukaka does no damage.

Bogan Riley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Riley throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sukaka.

Riley throws a series of punches but Sukaka moves out of range.
Riley thuds his right hand into Sukaka's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Riley wants to control but Sukaka is keeping him busy.
Riley is really struggling to control Sukaka but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Riley is looking to stall here but Sukaka recovers full guard.

Sukaka has his foot on Riley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Riley works his way back into a safe position though.
Riley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Sukaka has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Riley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Penja Sukaka will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Riley tries to bum rush Sukaka with a series of wild strikes but Sukaka uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bogan Riley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Riley throws an overhand right that lands on Sukaka's shoulder, as Sukaka tries to avoid the shot.
Riley misses with a double jab.

Sukaka feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Riley is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Sukaka postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Riley is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sukaka, into his guard.

Riley is not content to let Sukaka control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sukaka looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Sukaka wants to control but Riley is keeping him busy.

Riley is in trouble now - Sukaka has advanced to mount!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Sukaka has control of Riley's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Riley regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Riley tries to hold on but Sukaka pushes him away.
Riley is working to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sukaka throws some wild stikes that Riley manages to avoid easily.
Sukaka throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Riley because Sukaka loaded up on that one.

Penja Sukaka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Riley paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Riley drops back looking for a leg! Sukaka is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sukaka manages to kick Riley off! Riley jumps back into Sukaka's guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sukaka connects with a nice short shot to Riley's temple.

I've got Sukaka winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
