PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jason Dunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Whinchester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dunn's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Bia Bia . I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Dean Whinchester was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Dunn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dean Whinchester!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whinchester shoots in but Dunn avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dunn moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Whinchester tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dunn swivels and escapes.
Dunn misses with a few strikes there.
A combination from Dunn does no damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Whinchester shoots for a takedown but Dunn saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jason Dunn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dean Whinchester.
Good leg kick by Dunn there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Whinchester shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dunn as he jumps to the side.
Jason Dunn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Dunn throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Dunn misses the shot to the body.

Dunn will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dunn stalks Whinchester and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Whinchester's face. Whinchester staggers backwards, shaken.
Dunn throws a series of strikes that have Whinchester backpedaling.
Whinchester moves out of range of the leg kick from Dunn.
Dunn lands with a nice combination. Whinchester backs away looking to recover.
Dunn throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dunn fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Whinchester throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dunn counters with a thumping low kick.

and Whinchester counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Whinchester is looking for a kimura but Dunn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Whinchester to get the leverage.

Whinchester seems to be working for a kimura but Dunn defends the submission attempt.
Whinchester is looking to advance position but Dunn won't allow it.

Whinchester is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jason Dunn will probably get the nod.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Whinchester bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Whinchester is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Dunn goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Whinchester connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Whinchester fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dunn sprawls well initially but Whinchester persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Whinchester is looking for a kimura but Dunn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Whinchester to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dunn tries to kick Whinchester off but Whinchester keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Whinchester uses his free foot to push down on Dunn's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dunn.

Whinchester looking to secure an arm triangle but Dunn defends it well.

Whinchester looking to isolate an arm here. Dunn doesn't see it coming and as Whinchester extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Whinchester!
