Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Oliver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boomer Chartrand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boomer Chartrand will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Oliver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Boomer Chartrand!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chartrand tries a head kick but it misses.
Chartrand moves away from the strike by Oliver.
Oliver ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chartrand moves away.
Oliver throws a shot from downtown. Chartrand moves away and avoids it.
Oliver is looking to chop away at Chartrand's legs.
Oliver missing with a left hand there. Chartrand was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Oliver shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Oliver showed some decent athleticism there.
Oliver will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Chartrand is staying active underneath Oliver, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Oliver has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Oliver tries to pass to full mount but Chartrand defends it.

Oliver stands up and beckons Chartrand to join him on the feet.

Chartrand displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Oliver throws out the jab.
Chartrand stuffs the takedown attempt from Oliver. Oliver gets slowly back to his feet.
Oliver misses with a series of wild punches.

Oliver drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Chartrand pushes Oliver off and scrambles back to his feet.
Oliver attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Oliver is breathing heavily.
Oliver throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Chartrand cracks Oliver with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Oliver avoids the head kick by Chartrand.
Boomer Chartrand seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chartrand has closed the distance and engaged Oliver in a clinch.
Oliver has had enough of the clinch but Chartrand keeps him there for the moment.

Chartrand breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Oliver keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Oliver lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Oliver fails with the takedown.
No luck for Chartrand with that takedown attempt.

Kevin Oliver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Boomer Chartrand.
Chartrand moves out of range of the leg kick from Oliver.

Chartrand has managed to clinch.

Oliver breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Chartrand shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Chartrand stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Chartrand fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Chartrand gets the takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chartrand stands up and beckons Oliver to his feet.
Oliver circles away from the clinch attempt.
Chartrand throws a head kick that half lands.

Oliver closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Oliver drops an elbow to the side of Chartrand's head.
Oliver is taking a breather. Chartrand says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Oliver lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Oliver content to control rather than advance.
Oliver passes to side control.

Oliver tries for a kimura but Chartrand is defending well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Oliver cracks Chartrand with a big right hand but Chartrand just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kevin Oliver will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Chartrand throws a right hand that Oliver ducks under and follows up with a left that Oliver also avoids with ease.

Oliver closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Oliver is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Chartrand knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Chartrand wants to get back to his feet but Oliver drags him back down.

Oliver tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Oliver has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Oliver is working Chartrand over with some ground and pound from side control.

You can see the frustration on Chartrand's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Oliver scores with a couple of short elbows.
Chartrand is trying to get back to his feet.
Oliver wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chartrand keeps working.

Oliver tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Oliver tries to score with some ground and pound. Chartrand controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Chartrand takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Oliver is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Chartrand is trying to escape and Oliver transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Chartrand is forced to tap! Nice work there by Oliver! Very nice indeed!
