Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sando Han (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Sando Han has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sando Han!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Smith!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.

Han has Smith up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith tries for a takedown. No joy.
Smith is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Sando Han has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Smith.

Han escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Han moves into the clinch successfully.
Han digs a right hand underneath Smith's ribcage. Smith let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Smith's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Smith has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Han is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Han lands a knee to the head.

Smith closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Han's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Smith is working Han over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Smith works over Han with some ground and pound from guard.
Han on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Han tries to get out of the position.
Han wants to get back to his feet but Smith is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Han tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Han sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.

Smith closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Han's guard.

Smith keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Han's head.

Han pushes Smith off and gets back to his feet.

Smith gets tackled into the cage by Han. Han maintains the clinch.

Han pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith closes this distance looking for a takedown but Han circles away.
Han throws a hook to the side of Smith's head but Smith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Han throws a wild body kick that Smith sees coming a mile off.
Han throws a head kick that Smith semi-blocks.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Han fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Smith, pushing him back against the cage.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Smith blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Han breaks the clinch.
Han tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Han sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Smith shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Han manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Smith stops Han from standing up.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Smith won't allow Han to get back to his feet.
Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Han is retaining full guard.
Smith postures up and lands a big shot to Han's brow.
Smith postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sando Han will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Smith misses with a wild body shot.
Smith dives in and grabs Han's left leg, looking for a takedown. Han pushes down on Smith's head and hops out.

Smith tries to keep at a distance but Han has taken the fight into the clinch.

Han throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Han displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smith.
Smith fails to land the takedown.

Smith doesn't manage to clinch there - Han circles away.
Smith avoids a punch combination nicely.
Han avoids a kick to the body.
Han tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Smith.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Han.
Sando Han is winning the standup battle so far.

Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Han looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Smith is putting a hurting on Han here, landing some big shots from side control.

Han takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Han bucks up and tries to throw Smith off but instead Smith has got his back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
