Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jose Pena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcello Monteiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monteiro is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by DreamWorld by Ralek Gracie. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pena closes the distance looking to clinch

and Monteiro counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Monteiro.
Monteiro trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Pena bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Monteiro's guard.

Monteiro working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pena doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pena manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Monteiro is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pena defends well.
Monteiro has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Pena wants to get up but he can't break Monteiro's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
