Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roger Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Perosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Roger Gracie has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roger Gracie!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Perosh!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Perosh shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Gracie is defending against the submission attempts here by Perosh.
Gracie regains full guard. Nicely done.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Perosh gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Peroshis looking to pass into half guard but Gracie pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Gracie is in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Perosh trying to strike off his back.
Gracie throws a big right hand that misses.

Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Perosh tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Gracie works over Perosh with some ground and pound from guard.
Gracie scoring with some ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Perosh can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gracie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Perosh works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Perosh is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Perosh keeping full guard, as Gracie tries to pass.
Gracie trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Gracie is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Perosh keeps moving.

Gracie throwing strikes from guard but Perosh blocks nicely.
Perosh avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Gracie lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie trying to control but Perosh is working from the bottom.
Gracie stays in close to Perosh's body and controls the position.
Perosh wants to control the position but Gracie says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Gracie seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Perosh is trying to maintain the position but Gracie is very close to passing his half guard.

Perosh looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Gracie is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Gracie throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Perosh gets back to full guard.
Gracie throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Gracie sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Gracie won't allow Perosh to sweep him here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gracie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Perosh works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gracie advances position into side control!
Gracie tries to move into full mount but can't pass Perosh's legs.

Gracie is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Perosh has escaped the position, nice work there.
Gracie gets to mount! Perosh was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Perosh is in a horrible position here. Gracie smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roger Gracie dominated that round.

Perosh misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Gracie counters with a left to the body.
Gracie digs a good hook to Perosh's body.
Jim Perosh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gracie throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Perosh tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gracie is in Perosh's guard.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Perosh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gracie is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Perosh keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully.
Gracie passes Perosh's left leg - he's now in half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gracie drops an elbow to the side of Perosh's head.
Gracie wants to take a breather but Perosh is having none of it.

Perosh actively working from the bottom here.

Gracie maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Perosh could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Gracie has cracked it and Perosh is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Gracie!
