Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Benard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andres Katipunan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andres Katipunan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Benard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andres Katipunan!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Katipunan scoring well with a low kick there.
Katipunan throws a head kick but Benard moves out of range.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Katipunan enables Benard to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Katipunan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Benard trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Katipunan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Benard defends well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Katipunan has his foot on Benard's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Benard works his way back into a safe position though.
Benard has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Katipunan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Benard gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Benard with a flurry of punches that miss.
Katipunan wants to sweep but no luck.

Katipunan is looking to sinch up a triangle. Benard throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Katipunan's body to avoid the submission. Katipunan has instead reached around Benard's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Katipunan arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Andres Katipunan!
