Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matt Watson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Papadopulos!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watson rushes Papadopulos and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Watson has Papadopulos pressed against the cage.
Watson lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Papadopulos is trying to break the clinch but Watson is controlling him.
Papadopulos wants to take the fight to the mat but Watson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Papadopulos tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Watson pulls guard successfully.
Watson wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Papadopulos is now in half guard.
Watson is not content to let Papadopulos control the position.
Watson is controlling Papadopulos's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Watson wants to improve his position but Papadopulos is controlling well.
Watson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Papadopulos on the ground.

Watson wants to control but Papadopulos is keeping busy.
Papadopulos is trying to control. Watson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Papadopulos wants to pass to mount but Watson is defending the position.
Fedor Papadopulos has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Watson.
Papadopulos gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Watson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Watson.
Matt Watson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Papadopulos.
Watson prevents a takedown attempt there.
Papadopulos has a couple of punches blocked by Watson.
Papadopulos is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Papadopulos tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Watson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Papadopulos looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Watson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Papadopulos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Papadopulos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Papadopulos decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Watson, up you get!

Watson tries to pull guard but Papadopulos holds him up against the cage and eventually Watson drops back down to his feet.

Papadopulos is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Watson to keep the fight standing.

Watson breaks from the clinch.
Papadopulos tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Watson counters with a body kick that stops Papadopulos in his tracks momentarily.
Papadopulos tries to keep at a distance but Watson has taken the fight into the clinch.
Watson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Watson doesn't manage to clinch there - Papadopulos circles away.

Papadopulos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Watson tries to avoid it but Papadopulos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Watson to the ground. Watson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Watson has Papadopulos pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Papadopulos manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Watson is breathing heavily.
Watson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Papadopulos is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Papadopulos drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Watson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matt Watson dominated that round.
That's time! Watson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Watson shoots in and bounces Papadopulos off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Papadopulos is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Watson is aware though and is defending well.
Watson is posturing up here but Papadopulos has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Watson tries to roll out but it's too tight and Watson has to tap! Slick submission there by Papadopulos!
