PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Iggy Guerrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seppo Kastinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guerrero comes into the arena with La Bamba blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Iggy Guerrero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Seppo Kastinen!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guerrero misses with an uppercut.
Guerrero doesn't manage to clinch there - Kastinen circles away.

Kastinen scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Guerrero is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Kastinen is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Guerrero has escaped the position, nice work there.
Guerrero is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Kastinen asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Guerrero is trying to improve his position.

Kastinen is trying to get an arm triangle but Guerrero is defending well.

Kastinen swings around for an armbar but Guerrero sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kastinen's guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Guerrero tries to free his leg and advance position but Kastinen is retaining full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Iggy Guerrero wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Guerrero waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kastinen.
Kastinen closes the distance and clinches up with Guerrero, looking for a takedown. Kastinen pushes Guerrero against the ropes but Guerrero circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Seppo Kastinen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Guerrero throws out a loose jab but Kastinen uses good head movement to avoid it.

Kastinen looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Guerrero!
Kastinen wants to control the pace but Guerrero is squirming around nicely.
Guerrero tries to hold on but Kastinen postures up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Guerrero is trying desperately to improve position.
Guerrero takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Kastinen sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Guerrero is looking to improve his position but Kastinen isn't that keen on the idea.

Kastinen trying to control but he's not successful this time.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kastinen wants to take his opponent's back but Guerrero doesn't allow it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kastinen jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Guerrero is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Guerrero and Kastinen has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seppo Kastinen dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Guerrero looks to land a left hand but Kastinen moved out of range nicely.
Kastinen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Guerrero swivels and escapes.
Guerrero tries to clinch there but Kastinen circles away.
Kastinen shoots in but no luck this time.
Kastinen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Guerrero sprawls well. Guerrero wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kastinen gets slowly back to his feet.
Iggy Guerrero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seppo Kastinen.

Kastinen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Guerrero but Guerrero pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Guerrero scores with a sloppy right hand. Kastinen should have avoided that one.

Guerrero changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Guerrero tries to close the distance and clinch but Kastinen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Kastinen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Guerrero throws the left hand but Kastinen avoids the punch easily.
Kastinen has a takedown stuffed.
Guerrero is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kastinen.
Kastinen shoots for a double leg takedown but Guerrero sprawls well. He's pushed Kastinen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kastinen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Guerrero stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Guerrero wants it to stay on the feet.

Kastinen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Guerrero's guard.

Guerrero wants to sweep here but Kastinen controlling him for the moment.
Guerrero manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kastinen manages to get himself to full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Guerrero wants to stand but Kastinen has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Guerrero stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kastinen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Seppo Kastinen has got the better of the ground game so far.

Guerrero won't allow Kastinen to sweep him here.
Kastinen manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Kastinen is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Guerrero to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Guerrero shrugs it off.

Kastinen looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Guerrero stops Kastinen from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Guerrero tries to hold on but Kastinen postures up.
Kastinen wants to take Guerrero's back here but Guerrero is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Kastinen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kastinen wants to control the pace but Guerrero is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kastinen goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Guerrero turns into him and now he's in Kastinen's guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Iggy Guerrero will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Kastinen keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Guerrero.
Guerrero throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kastinen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Guerrero tries to avoid it but Kastinen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Guerrero to the ground. Guerrero escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kastinen shoots in for a double leg but Guerrero sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Kastinen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Guerrero has his hands on Kastinen's head, controlling the position.
Guerrero not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Guerrero wants to stand and escape but Kastinen is having none of it.

Kastinen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Guerrero works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Guerrero wants to clinch up but Kastinen keeps it at a distance.
Kastinen slips a straight right by Guerrero.
Guerrero throws a wild body kick that Kastinen sees coming a mile off.
Guerrero ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Guerrero fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kastinen shoots in for a double leg but Guerrero sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Guerrero moves into the clinch successfully.

Kastinen turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Guerrero is looking to regain half guard here but Kastinen keeps moving and retains side control.

Guerrero can't do much from the bottom here.
Guerrero manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Kastinen is looking for a sweep. Guerrero is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Kastinen is controlling Guerrero's position as best he can from this difficult position.
It looks like Guerrero is going to stand back up.
Kastinen won't allow Guerrero to pass to mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Guerrero wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Kastinen uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Kastinen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Guerrero's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Iggy Guerrero.
I think Guerrero has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
