Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Emerson Silva!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva has taken the fight to the clinch.
Silva slows down the pace here.
Silva prevents a takedown attempt there.
Ferdinand drops down looking for an ankle pick but Silva pulls his leg out and moves away.

Silva tries to sprawl but Ferdinand drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Silva is trying to control but can't.

Ferdinand is working for a kimura but Silva is defending it quite comfortably.
Silva wants to get back to his feet.

Ferdinand trying to control the pace.

Ferdinand is working for a submission of some sort.
Silva trying to control from the bottom.
Silva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Silva is looking to control Ferdinand's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Silva avoid being mounted?
Silva is trying to get back to full guard.

Ferdinand passes the guard and advances to mount!
Silva is wriggling around trying to escape.

Ferdinand wants to finish this one by submission but Silva is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Ferdinand.
Silva tries to lock up and control but Ferdinand gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Silva can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ferdinand is looking to work his way around to Silva's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Silva tries to lock up and control but Ferdinand gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ferdinand can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Silva is looking to escape.

Silva defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Ferdinand.
Silva keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Silva tries to lock up and control but Ferdinand gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Silva looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.

Ferdinand has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Silva is forced to tap!
