Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Floyd Merithweather!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merithweather misses with a wild combination.
A jab from Merithweather misses.
Merithweather misses with a hook. Jones ducked under it nicely.
Jones fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Floyd Merithweather seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Merithweather was covering up waiting for the punch and Jones finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jones slips nicely into half guard.
Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Jones not doing much here.

Jones passes the guard and advances to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Merithweather because Jones loaded up on that one.
Jones controlling his opponent.

Merithweather is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Jones controlling his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Merithweather wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Jones.
Jones looking to control and managing it successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Peter Jones has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Merithweather misses with a hook
and Jones counters with an inside leg kick.
Both fighters circling a little - Jones finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Merithweather tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from Merithweather.
Jones throws a combination. Merithweather tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Merithweather throws a right hand that misses
and Jones counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Merithweather throws a shot from downtown. Jones moves away and avoids it.
Merithweather misses with a shot to the body
and Jones counters with a one-two to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Merithweather throws out the jab.

Jones gets the takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Jones dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Merithweather misses the body punch
and Jones counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Jones closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Merithweather quickly recovers to half guard.
Jones is taking a breather. Merithweather says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Merithweather is looking to escape.
Jones keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Jones works his way into full mount!
Jones tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Jones has isolated one of Merithweather's arms. Merithweather looking to fight him off but Jones twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Peter Jones!
Peter Jones looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'Floyed Merithweather is a talented young kid. He has got great boxing skills and I hope to see him carry on in this game because he has a lot of potential. Thankfully I managed to pick up another win here today and the champion better watch out because I'm coming for the that belt!!'.
