PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenshi Zuko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Otto Vetch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zuko kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Writ. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kenshi Zuko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Otto Vetch!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vetch is looking to score with low kicks.
Vetch takes one on the button.
Vetch throws a shot to the body.
Zuko with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Vetch is looking to slow Zuko down with leg kicks.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Vetch.
Vetch fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Zuko with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Vetch, right into the meat.

Zuko comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Zuko tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Vetch is able to avoid easily.

Vetch just misses with a punch to the body.
Otto Vetch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zuko throws a hook to the side of Vetch's head but Vetch sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Vetch connects with a leg kick. Zuko looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Zuko jabbing away but nothing is landing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zuko closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Zuko rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vetch moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Vetch tests Zuko's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Vetch is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Zuko thows a body shot but no joy.
Vetch takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Zuko takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Some bone on bone action there as Zuko checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
A nice leg kick lands there from Vetch.
Zuko is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Vetch takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vetch throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Zuko is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Vetch's half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

That's time! Zuko's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


The fighters circling - Zuko throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Vetch lands a right hook to the body.
Zuko ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vetch moves away.
That kick from Vetch tenderised Zuko's leg. Zuko is trying to keep his angry face on.
Vetch lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Zuko throws a big shot that misses.
Zuko throws a hook but Vetch blocks it.
Vetch blocks a leg kick.
Zuko looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Zuko misses with a double jab.
Vetch takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Zuko connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Vetch's hands.
Vetch feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Zuko's calf.

Zuko walks into a stiff left hand from Vetch.

Vetch misses with a hook. Zuko ducked under it nicely.

Vetch uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Zuko.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Vetch presses Zuko against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Zuko is trying to maintain a safe position but Vetch gets an underhook and turns Zuko into the cage.
Zuko's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Zuko struggles to land a body shot inside as Vetch controls his hands.
Vetch tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Zuko's elbow.

Zuko works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Vetch pulls Zuko in close to prevent any damage.

Otto Vetch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Vetch throws a solid leg kick but Zuko takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Vetch.

Zuko decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zuko can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Vetch is looking to escape.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kenshi Zuko.
I think Zuko has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
