PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Poblano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Urie Sergeyev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Poblano kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is not afraid. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alex Poblano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Urie Sergeyev!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sergeyev looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Poblano!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Poblano looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Sergeyev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Poblano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sergeyev is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Poblano to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Poblano shrugs it off.

It looks like Sergeyev might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Sergeyev is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Poblano can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Sergeyev is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Poblano has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Poblano!
Sergeyev seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Urie Sergeyev comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sergeyev has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Urie Sergeyev was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
