PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Zues Egan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry Carnitine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carnitine comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Doro Pesch and Udo Dirkschneider covering Breaking the Law kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Larry Carnitine acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zues Egan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Larry Carnitine!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carnitine throws a nice looking combination but Egan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Carnitine shoots in looking for a takedown. Egan tries to sprawl out of it but Carnitine keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Egan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A chopping leg kick lands by Egan.
Carnitine shoots in for a takedown but Egan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Carnitine misses with the combination.
Egan lands with an uppercut that bounces Carnitine off the cage and back into range.
Egan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Carnitine.

Egan digs a right hand into Carnitine's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Carnitine's gas tank.

Egan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Carnitine tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Egan paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Carnitine closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Egan connects with a leg kick. Carnitine looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Egan buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Egan walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Carnitine checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Carnitine looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Carnitine has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Egan.

That kick from Egan tenderised Carnitine's leg. Carnitine is trying to keep his angry face on.

Carnitine throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Egan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Carnitine is in Egan's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Carnitine looking to sit in guard and control but Egan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Carnitine is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Egan stands up and waves to Carnitine to follow him.

Carnitine shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Carnitine showed some decent athleticism there.
Egan wants to control but Carnitine is keeping busy.

Carnitine is looking to advance position but Egan won't allow it.

Carnitine is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Egan is looking for a sweep. Carnitine is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Carnitine is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Egan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Carnitine.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Carnitine looks to score with a jab to the body but Egan is just out of range.
Carnitine shoots in looking for a takedown. Egan tries to sprawl out of it but Carnitine keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Egan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Carnitine takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Carnitine works Egan's body with a nice hook.
Carnitine tries for a takedown but Egan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Carnitine's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Egan connects with a nice looking jab.
Egan is looking to score with low kicks.
Carnitine checks the leg kick.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Carnitine.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Egan.

Egan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Carnitine looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Egan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carnitine's guard.

Carnitine wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Egan is now in half guard.

Carnitine drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Egan dives on top into guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Carnitine shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Egan as he avoids it easily.

Carnitine throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Carnitine looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Egan is fending him off so far but Carnitine persists. Nope, Egan circles away and we're back to standing.

Carnitine has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Egan.

Egan feints and then cracks Carnitine's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Carnitine down.

Carnitine has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Egan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Egan lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Egan.
Carnitine fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Egan avoids it really well and circles away.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Egan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
