Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between DJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seth Bender (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Til I Collapse. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, DJ Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Seth Bender!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bender tries to score a power double leg takedown but Penn sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bender somewhat.
Penn misses with a looping left.
Bender shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Penn defends it nicely.
Bender shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Penn sprawls well. Penn wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bender gets slowly back to his feet.
DJ Penn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seth Bender.
Nice uppercut lands for Penn. That snapped Bender's head back.

Penn avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bender.
Bender is trying to control. Penn wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Penn moves into full guard.
Bender has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bender wants to pass the guard but Penn is keeping the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Seth Bender hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Bender changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Penn tries to avoid it but Bender manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Penn to the ground. Penn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Bender drives through with a takedown into guard.

Penn looking for a guillotine here but Bender defends easily.
Bender looking to sit in guard and control but Penn gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Bender manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Penn avoids a series of strikes thrown by Bender.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seth Bender dominated that round.
That's time! Penn's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Bender tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Penn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Penn scores with a hook to the body. Bender takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Bender is in trouble now - Penn has advanced to mount!

Penn sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Bender is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Penn tries to move to mount but Bender blocks the move with his legs.
Bender is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Penn's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Penn wants to pass to mount but Bender is defending the position.
Penn passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bender!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Bender tries to reverse the position but Penn maintains control.
Penn wants to take Bender's back here but Bender is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Bender bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Penn had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bender defends it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

DJ Penn dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Penn connects with a body shot.
Penn throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Bender on the side of the head.

Bender feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Penn lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Bender shoots for a takedown but Penn saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Penn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Penn lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Penn ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Bender checks a leg kick.
Bender shoots in for a takedown but Penn shows good takedown defense.
Bender misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Penn throws a right and a left that Bender avoids nicely.
Bender fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Penn avoids it really well and circles away.
Penn slaps away a takedown attempt from Bender, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bender tries to clinch but Penn moves out of range.
Bender throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Penn counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Penn stuns Bender with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Bender avoids the body shot from Penn.
Penn is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Bender darts in and clinches Penn up against the ropes.
Bender has Penn pressed against the ropes, preventing Penn from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Bender tries to score a body lock takedown but Penn shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

It looks like Seth Bender has been cut.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Penn.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Penn wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Penn manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Bender wants to hold on but Penn pushes him away.

And that's the end of the fight!
DJ Penn showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Penn has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
