PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rajon Rubio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roque Marcyanno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rajon Rubio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roque Marcyanno!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Rubio. Those never looked like landing.
Marcyanno tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rubio swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Marcyanno moves to clinch but Rubio breaks away

and Rubio counters by moving into the clinch.

Marcyanno tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Rubio makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Rubio keeps the fight on the outside.
Rubio closes this distance looking for a takedown but Marcyanno circles away.
Marcyanno is looking to clinch.
Marcyanno tries to bum rush Rubio with a series of wild strikes but Rubio uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Marcyanno tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Rubio counters with an inside leg kick.
Marcyanno wants to clinch up but Rubio keeps it at a distance.

Rubio moves into the clinch successfully.
Rubio keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Marcyanno's efforts to push away.
Marcyanno tries to break free but Rubio pushes him back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
A bit of stalling here from Rubio.
Marcyanno is pushing Rubio up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Marcyanno lands a body shot.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Marcyanno.

Rubio breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Rubio manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Rubio is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Marcyanno is trying to break the clinch but Rubio has him pressed against the cage.
Rubio could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rubio drags the fight down to the ground.
Marcyanno must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Marcyanno trying to control the position from guard on top but Rubio is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rubio is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rubio is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rubio is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Rubio is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Rubio is pulling down on Marcyanno's head. It's preventing any offense from Marcyanno, at least for the moment.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Marcyanno tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Rubio holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Marcyanno tries to work over Rubio's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Rubio misses with a knee to the head.
Marcyanno is looking to break free of the clinch but Rubio has double underhooks.

Rubio drags the fight down to the ground.
Marcyanno stands and throws Rubio's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Marcyanno trying to control the position but Rubio is working away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Marcyanno laying and praying for a moment but Rubio takes advantage and regains half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rubio is pressing down on Marcyanno's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Marcyanno throws a strike but Rubio rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Marcyanno is trying to control the position from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rajon Rubio dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

It looks like Rajon Rubio has been cut.
Marcyanno throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Marcyanno misses with a double jab.
Marcyanno is looking to clinch but Rubio is avoiding it.
Rubio swats away the attempt to clinch by Marcyanno.
Rubio throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marcyanno's waist but Marcyanno gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rubio off to one side.
Rubio is trying hard to land a takedown here. Marcyanno sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Marcyanno keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Rubio.
Rubio has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Marcyanno tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Rubio counters with a head kick.
Marcyanno lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Rubio can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Marcyanno and Rubio drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Marcyanno.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roque Marcyanno!
